Tenure-track: Assistant Professor in Biophotonics

The Department of Physics and Astronomy, College of Arts and Sciences, of Texas A&M University invites applications for a faculty member in the research area of experimental biophotonics at the rank of assistant professor. This full-time, tenure-track position will have a nine-month academic appointment beginning August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will assume full teaching responsibilities at the graduate and undergraduate levels, establish a vigorous, independent research program that will attract external funding, and contribute to the service mission of the department. We are seeking talented investigators to initiate and lead highly innovative research program in the broad area of development and application of lasers, optics, and photonics to study and control biological systems at molecular, cellular, and tissue levels. Texas A&M University has an interest in expanding its effort in interdisciplinary sciences, and synergistic efforts across different departments and research disciplines are encouraged.

The new faculty member is expected to be a member of the Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering (IQSE) . IQSE is renowned for its innovative interdisciplinary research in optics and photonics and provides a collaborative research environment across multiple colleges within Texas A&M University System and numerous universities around the world. IQSE extensive research facilities are complemented with abundant research infrastructure at Texas A&M University, which involves several microscopy imaging and nanofabrication facilities. Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned PhD in physics or related field, a strong record of publications, and a research focus on biophotonics.
