The United States Space Force (USSF) 4th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Test and Evaluation Engineer (NH-0801-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

Description:

The 4 TES Test & Evaluation Analyst develops and implements methods for achieving high quality test results and determines necessary test processes and requirements based on OSD, USSF, Field Command, Delta 12, and 4 TES policies and regulations, ensuring our nation's future space capabilities meet warfighter and mission requirements. They directly support testing of the Space Force's newest GPS, satellite communications, electronic warfare, and orbital warfare mission systems and capabilities through systematic engineering and test design approaches. Duties include process optimization, risk management, modeling and simulation, and engineering-related activities. They also coordinate test requirements and execution with other 4 TES team members and outside agencies to include DoD, acquisitions agencies, mission operation units, and other test organizations.

Previous experience with DoD acquisition, test & evaluation, or development of space related systems; data analysis; and/or industrial, systems, electronics or aerospace engineering is highly desired. Experience with one or more USSF spectrum effects programs including SATCOM, GPS, and SEW also highly desired. Must either possess or be able to obtain Defense Acquisition University (DAU) T&E Practitioner level certification. Must be eligible for or possess an active TS/SCI clearance.

Two positions are available, one regular position and one term position (present through 2028 that may be converted to a regular position).

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate should have experience with DoD and USSF test and evaluation planning and execution. Candidate will be expected to perform duties to include test and evaluation planning and execution; test strategy and resource development; deficiency reporting; data and system modeling and simulation; and data analysis.

Candidates should have experience with one or more USSF spectrum effects programs including SATCOM, GPS, and SEW.

Candidate must be able to work well independently and as part of groups or teams. Candidate with critical thinking, organization skills to quickly recall or find information, excellent written/oral communication, ability to collaborate with geographically separated teams, and the ability to deliver on short deadlines are well-suited for the position.

Candidate must meet Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Core Certification Standards for Test and Evaluation Foundational Level within 18 months of assignment to the position and Practitioner Level within 50 months of assignment to the position.

1. Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of multidisciplinary

professional engineering to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to areas of responsibility.

2. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.

4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.

5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.

6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • This position is not eligible for telework.
  • PCS/Incentive funding are available.
  • Candidate must meet Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Core Certification Standards for Test and Evaluation Foundational Level

  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution in (specific discipline of position) or a closely related field is required.
  • Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
  • This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
