General Dynamics Electric Boat, a leader in naval innovation, is seeking passionate engineers to contribute to the design, construction and maintenance of state-of-the-art submarines for the U.S. Navy. Be part of a dynamic team, drive technological advancements, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of maritime defense. If you're ready for a challenging and rewarding career, apply now to be at the forefront of naval engineering excellence.

D408 Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) COLUMBIA Class Configuration Management Group is seeking a Test Engineer Sr. Systems.

The team is embarking on new work to support the UK Dreadnought programs with ILS Configuration Management. Note: the title Test Engineer is used to describe a non-engineering-degreed individual with requisite Navy and/or Navy Logistics experience to perform ILS Configuration Management duties. Candidates with engineering degrees are also welcomed to apply.

This group is responsible for the review of ship diagrams, disclosures, and liabilities to identify configuration worthy items throughout the COLUMBIA platform. The team generates and documents configuration status accounting records for each configuration worthy item in Teamcenter which are then delivered to government databases. This supports the delivery of life-cycle logistics products throughout the design and construction phase, and also enables EB and the Navy to track ships configuration throughout the lifecycle.

The candidate will be responsible for the technical analysis of systems, assemblies, and components in support of establishing and maintaining the correct configuration breakdown. The candidate will also be involved with establishing strategic COLUMBIA processes and policies that best position our organization for a future COLUMBIA planning yard contract.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Determining logistics-worthiness of all parts authorized to be installed onboard COLUMBIA and DREADNOUGHT Hulls.
  • Determining a top down breakdown of engineered components and complex systems that is aligned with current government standard practices.
  • Updating logistics baseline in Teamcenter with appropriate logistics configuration information accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicating with D408 ILS Configuration Data Managers, System and Component Engineers, Navy Logistics Specialists, and other ILS disciplines such as Maintenance Planning, Supportability and Provisioning in the resolution of configuration questions and issues.
  • Using contractor and Navy data systems to perform technical research and analysis of configuration data records.
Responsibilities
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and establish best practices
  • Positive productive attitude
  • Teamwork oriented
  • Attention to detail and first time quality
Qualifications

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of related Navy Shipboard and/or Navy Logistics Experience.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and using Electric Boat design products (DWGs, ERs, Disclosures, CR/CNs, etc.).
  • Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel).
Preferred:
  • Experience with mechanical / electrical / fluids systems and components.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and using Electric Boat logistics products (Technical Manuals, Provisioning Data, Maintenance Planning Documentation).
  • Teamcenter/ IPDE Experience.
  • MS Excel experience.
  • Experience working in the ILS Organization.
  • Familiarity with Electric Boat and DOD logistics systems.
