Molex Transportation and Industrial Solutions (TIS) Division Global Reliability Test Solutions team is seeking entrepreneurial and technical candidates to support a newly emerging Sample Quality Group at our Rochester Hills, MI headquarters. The Sample Quality Group will drive innovation in producing high quality prepared test samples for validation testing. By augmenting with various Test Execution Teams, collaborating with Manufacturing and Product Engineering teams, the Sample Quality Group will support the development of optimized test sample preparation to execute world-class quality testing.

What You Will Do

• Prepares/Assembles Molex products for Test Validation. Product components include connectors, headers, receptacle/blade terminals, wiring harnesses, and modules for validation testing according to customer specifications and best practices. Assembly will be conducted using Molex product Application Specifications, Best Practices, or instructions from Product Engineering or lab Test Engineering staff.

• Preparation/Assembly processes and equipment will require knowledge of through-hole soldering, epoxy applications, connector/header modifications, and connector/terminal population. Equipment/processes include basic hand tool familiarity, microscope visual inspection, soldering proficiency, thermocouple fabrication/welding, terminal servicing tools, custom fixtures, and basic electrical measuring equipment.

• Provides feedback to Lab Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Test Engineers, and Supervisor on means to improve sample preparation procedures. Collaborate with other lab technical and engineering staff to exceed expectations of our Engineering partners in preparation methods.

• Assists in resolving problems with test sample preparation and/or supporting the identification of areas for improvement when necessary.

• Reviews prepared samples for quality of assembly and adherence to instructions. Reviews sample preparation with Test Engineer/Supervisor and alerts Test Engineer/Supervisor of abnormalities, inconsistencies, or imperfections to provided components.

• Maintains progress status of test sample preparation tasks via electronic Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Updates notes regarding communications, instructions, and observations. Tracks work hours performed, and records notes on testing as instructed.

• As development opportunities, you may support test Execution Teams with measurement systems analysis of routine testing procedures. Procedures may involve set up and operating standard and custom testing equipment, not limited to - electronic voltage, current, and measuring equipment, Water Intrusion/Submersion, High Pressure Spray, and leak rate.

• Understand, support, and contribute to Koch Market-Based Management© entrepreneurial philosophies, Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Quality (IATF 16949), Environmental Management (ISO14000) Systems by following approved policies and procedures.

Who You Are
  • Technical training certificate in an electro-mechanical field with 1 years of laboratory testing experience with like products
  • Or 2 or more years of laboratory testing experience with like products
  • Or Proven hands on mechanical or electrical skills involving critical thinking


What Puts You Ahead


  • Knowledge or use of the set-up/programming of lab equipment such as:
  • Electronic test and measurement equipment
  • IR Meters
  • Dielectric Strength meters
  • Pressure and vacuum systems.
  • Data acquisition systems for voltage and current
  • Daily hands-on ability with capability of working with very small components.
  • Soldering techniques - both manual and automated
  • Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office and general software.
