Department Information

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as a staff liaison between the department, college, and other external entities.
2. Explains proactively all testing procedures, requirements, and expected results with students.
3. Represents Student Disability Services in a professional manner while interacting with university personnel and the community.
4. Supports university and divisional initiatives, including staff participation, in divisional signature events, as requested.
5. Counsels students on rights and responsibilities regarding academic accommodations, departmental policies, and procedures.
6. Serves as point of contact for Student Disability Services for accommodated testing services.
7. Assists in creating, revising, and maintaining the operations manual for testing.

Job Summary

Provides coordination, administration, and oversight of testing services for qualified KSU students, non-KSU students, and working professionals and/or assigned student populations. Ensures all testing activities are done to the highest of standards and in accordance with best practices. Safeguards the integrity of every exam administered.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates the scheduling of exams per student request and communicates the request for and delivery of the test with the professor.
2. May work with students who have need of special accommodations, including but not limited to reading tests, scribing tests, or providing alternative format testing materials (e.g.,- to-text, or CCTV)
3. Ensures exams are proctored, students are monitored, testing files are maintained, and tests are returned in a timely manner.
4. Adheres to NCTA professional standards while proctoring tests.
5. Proctors students and resolves conflict during testing to ensure a secure and quiet testing environment.
6. Reports any violations of test policies impacting test integrity to leadership.
7. Coordinates the final exam testing schedule with students and faculty, including recruiting and training additional proctor support.
8. Confidentially maintains student records and test scheduling through the student record system.
9. Gathers data for reports and compiles information for leadership.
10. Identifies and resolves testing issues in a professional and unbiased manner involving key personnel as needed.
11. Oversees adaptive testing equipment and procedures.
12. Designs and implements policies and procedures as needed for the operation of the testing service.
13. May coordinate various professional exams for customers other than KSU students that lead to certifications and licensures.
14. May coordinate various academic exams for customers/students other than KSU students, such as students from other academic institutions studying online who require live proctored exams.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's from an accredited institution of higher education

Required Experience
Two (2) years of related experience proctoring various types of exams, both academic and professional

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Working and tested knowledge in National College Testing Association (NCTA) professional standards
Working and demonstrated understanding of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

Able to manage testing procedures (ensure test integrity, secure tests, coordinate testing services, schedule tests and modality (online or at the testing center), serve as a proctor)
Firm understanding of Degree Works or other electronic student data programs and coordination with the Academic Advising team
Able to manage accommodated testing procedures (ensure test integrity, secure tests, coordinate testing services, schedule tests and location, provide approved accommodations, such as screen reader, scribe, adaptive technology, and serve as proctor); as required.

Must be vigilant - able to pay close attention to cheating or prevention of cheating

KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of ADA laws specifically related to testing accommodations
Knowledge of NCTA professional standards

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
