Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a coordinator-track faculty position at the rank of instructor. The start date for the position is January 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching studio and academic courses such as Lighting Technology, Lighting Design, and Introduction to Theatre. In addition, the successful candidate will serve as the production electrician for the department's production season of 6-8 mainstage theatre and dance productions annually; supervise and mentor lighting technology and design students; coordinate and oversee the execution of all MTSU Theatre and Dance lighting needs; and maintain theatre lighting facilities and equipment inventory. Additional teaching opportunities in specialty training areas based on experience may be available, as well as opportunities for design within the production season.
Required Education
A master's degree in theatre or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in theatre or a closely related field with five (5) years of directly related industry experience in lighting may be considered.
Other Desirables
Applicants with previous university teaching experience in lighting and those with a secondary focus in rigging, projection design/technology, or a closely related area will receive special consideration.
