JOB SUMMARY: Seek and identify talent deemed suitable for the established performance standards of Norwegian Cruise Line, Holdings (NCLH). Plan and attend auditions/recruiting events domestically and internationally. Responsible for efficient communication with external and internal contacts regarding the pursuit of specialized talent. Participate in the ongoing casting/hiring process for production cast members and entertainment staff. Maintain and exceed the level of required talent for all NCLH productions and entertainment programming.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with the Manager, Theatrical Casting to forecast and plan audition calendars, recruiting tours/conventions, and strategic audition advertising for all Norwegian Cruise Line, Holdings (NCLH) entertainment programs.
  • Coordinate and attend hiring events domestically and internationally. Seek entertainment personnel, including, but not limited to singers, dancers, gymnasts, actors and entertainment staff. Identify, record and organize all hirable talent ensuring they meet the established performance standards of Norwegian Cruise Line, Holdings (NCLH).
  • Research new talent pools to supplement the diverse talent required by NCLH entertainment programs. Consistently research and create new ideas to enhance the recruitment process for entertainment programs and productions.
  • Responsible for posting clear and timely casting breakdowns through casting outlets.
  • Sends offers once approved by Manager, Theatrical Casting. Ensure Norwegian Casting Studio (NCS) offer letters and pre-employment packets include appropriate position information and role responsibilities as well as company policies and procedures as established by the Manager, Theatrical Operations.
  • Assist Manager, Theatrical Casting in identifying tracks, role assignments, and casting decisions through offer request forms and casting meetings.
  • Work alongside the Theatrical & Casting Operations Specialist to secure all requirements for auditions / recruitment events such as: audition space, accompanists, audition monitors, music, play back systems etc.
  • Work directly with vendors and audition contractors distributing all required vendor documents and ensuring complete documents are submitted before the start of an audition. Verify all vendor paperwork and invoices are complete before submitting them to the Theatrical & Casting Operations Specialist.
  • Maintain communication between the cast members, Casting Administrator and Fleet Personnel to complete the hiring process including, pre-employment documents, "know before you go" packets, MAPS spreadsheets, shared drives, and sharable information.
  • Create and maintain clear audition materials including sheet music accompaniments, audition sheet music/sides, dance playback material and dance audition sheet music when required. Keep all audition materials current and appropriate for the ever-changing project scopes and casting requirements of NCLH's entertainment programs.
  • Maintain the NCS Casting Data Base, working alongside the Theatrical & Casting Operations Specialist to upload and categorize talent identified as suitable for employment.
  • Network and build strong relationships with agencies, universities and theatrical festivals, as well as communicate with talent agents, industry magazines, newsletters and websites to enhance and increase NCLH's profile and reputation within the entertainment industry.
  • Work in collaboration with the NCS Media Specialist to regularly maintain the Norwegian Creative Studios website with current audition information and audition breakdowns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

DEGREE TYPE: Bachelor's Degree

FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Theatre, Music or any equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in theater environment as a casting director, stage manager or director/choreographer of production shows. Minimum 3 years in the cruise and/or hospitality industry.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
  • Must be innovative, creative and have extensive knowledge related to theatrical talent casting, music, contracts, negotiation, recruiting, personnel management and marketing.
  • Must have an eye for detail related to performance training and technique.
  • Knowledge of the overall Casting responsibilities within the Production Cycle for both new and remount projects.
  • Must have working knowledge of FileMaker Pro database software.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Extensive knowledge of cruise ship entertainment operations and ability to effectively execute cruise ship entertainment recruitment programs.
  • Effective planning, implementation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically with diverse team members, management, internal and external customers, vendors and contractors.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to successfully communicate with all contacts.
  • Excellent judgment, delegation and decision-making ability to assess reports from all directions and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to travel onboard ships to domestic and international locations as needed (75%).
  • Position is based in Tampa, Florida.
