Job Description

THECB is observing a hybrid telecommuting schedule with employees required to be in the office at least two (2) days per week.

The agency is located at the George Herbert Walker Bush State Building located in the Capitol Complex at 1801 N. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701.

Introduction:

The candidate should be able to perform below tasks:

1. Design, develop, deploy the code and perform Salesforce Administrative tasks.

2. Serve as a senior developer on the scrum team.

3. Collaborate with business and technical team to understand the requirement and implement that by following industry best practices and THECB agency's ITS standards.

General Description:

Performs work in the design, development, implementation and administration of Salesforce application; collaborate with business and development teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications; develop and configure workflows, forms, Apex code, reports and data loader in the Salesforce platform; promote code from lower to higher environments using Azure DevOps; automate data load and extract from Salesforce using data loader; and conduct testing and quality assurance to ensure optimal performance and reliability

This role will be responsible for customizing, developing, and using the Salesforce application for complex programming projects. Server as a senior developer on the scrum team; utilize out of the box functionalities in Salesforce applications to meet specific business needs and requirements; understand the current customized code and refine it with, Out of the Box features minimizing custom code usage; work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and identify areas of improvement; implement enhancements to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement; and continuously explore new features and functionalities offered on the Salesforce platform. Collaborate with others in the team to develop salesforce integrations using API.

This role will provide incident resolution and troubleshooting support for Salesforce applications; identify and resolve issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations; collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve system incidents; and document resolutions and maintain an organized knowledge base. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, may oversee the work of others. This position reports to the Director.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements and provide out of the box Salesforce solutions adhering to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) policies and procedures.

• Promotes and adopts consistent testing standards, tools, and processes.

• Create user accounts and assign appropriate licenses, profiles and permissions.

• Create and manage complex Salesforce flows.

• Create Lightning record pages, record types, page layouts and compact layouts based on business requirements.

• Support multiple Salesforce projects and customer enhancements using an Agile methodology.

• Ability to move Salesforce components from development to production using pipelines in Azure DevOps.

• Complete regular internal system audits.

• Prepare for and complete upgrades.

• Prepare Technical documentation.

• Manage Salesforce data feeds using salesforce native data loader and other integrations.

• Review existing custom Salesforce code and analyze, plan, prepare documents, work with management to move it to out of the box solutions with bare minimal custom code footprint.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Applies appropriate Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) standards at all times. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and agency Web Accessibility policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Skill in using personal computers, general office software, databases, and computer programs.

• Skill in communicating both in writing and verbally.

• Skill in performing different types of coding and configuring Salesforce application like Apex coding, lightning record pages, page layouts, user access/restrictions, data load and extract to/from Salesforce.

• Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities and priorities and manage time in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured environment.

• Ability to work on detailed information and provide accurate, organized results.

• Ability to work well in groups, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.

• Ability to interact professionally with customers, users, and other participants in the admin and development process.

• Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.

• Ability to think critically, use logic and reasoning, and identify alternative solutions to problems.

Qualifications:

Required Minimum Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, information systems, business administration, or related technical field. One year of full working experience in cybersecurity, data analysis or information technology may take the place of 30 semester hours coursework, up to 4 years full-time working experience

AND

• An additional six years of relevant full-time work experience in information technology, showing increasing responsibility; with at least:

• Experience leading application development in SFDC (Salesforce)

• Six (6) years of experience in Salesforce Administration and development to include:

o 3+ years of experience using SQL queries and SFDC Data loader

o 2+ years of experience with code deployment and version control tools

o 1+ year of experience with deployment in Azure DevOps CI/CD environments

Preferred:

• Certified Salesforce admin/developer

• Strong Salesforce product knowledge

• Working in SCRUM or Agile environment

• Experience with State or Federal government processes
