The Title I Continuous Improvement Team within the Division for Student & School Success is seeking applicants for a Title I Continuous Improvement Education Consultant position. Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to provide, as a member of a team, expert leadership for school and district transformation support in accordance with Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). This position will support the work of the Title I Continuous Improvement Team to ensure educational equity and success for all students by administering funds and providing support to students, families, educators, and communities. This position will lead transformation work in identified districts with the improvement and/or development of systems to enhance continuous improvement, change adult practices, and enhance education equity. Provide support, guidance, and coaching to school leaders in developing evidence-based improvement strategies and progress monitoring for implementation that is sustainable. Coordinate and facilitate professional learning to strengthen district capacity to support school leaders in changing adult practices. Duties include:
  • Providing consultation and intensive technical assistance to Title I schools/districts in the areas of high-quality instructional materials, instruction, and assessment strategies, instructional resources, and research related to helping all students, especially those historically underserved to meet high standards.
  • Monitoring and providing support to schools that are identified as needing improvement and receiving federal funds (e.g., basic, and intensive technical assistance and professional development) regarding curriculum, instructional practice, assessment, and overall program design.
  • Providing support and expertise to districts in their efforts to implement and scale up evidence-based practices and reform initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Reviewing/approving grant applications and providing related technical assistance.
  • Maintaining the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Title I guidelines and other reference material essential to the Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) participation in these programs.
  • Design and conduct or otherwise arrange for relevant professional learning sessions based on current research to match instruction goals pursued in Title I schools; coordinate professional learning within the parameters of ESEA, and other state reforms; and help guide school districts with schools in the effective implementation of innovations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate professional learning for identified schools and districts supporting targeted, evidence-based strategies for transformation.

Salary Information

Depending on qualifications, the salary will be between $34.00 - $47.00 per hour (approximately $70,720 - $97,760 per year). For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at time of hire. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 02. A one-year probationary period will be required.

Job Details

This position has the option to work 100% remote with a requirement that the employee is expected to have access to secure high speed internet. Please note this position will require travel to and within Milwaukee and Racine. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

The position is headquartered at 125 S. Webster Street in Madison, WI, and employees are required to report there on their first day of employment. The employee may need to report to their headquarter location as operational needs require. Reimbursement for traveling to or from the employee's headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.).

Qualifications

A minimally qualified applicant must have experience with all the below:
  • Performing a leadership/mentorship/coordination role in an urban educational setting
  • Training on or implementing continuous improvement principles
  • Developing and/or analyzing school or district improvement plans for state or federal required improvement activities in an urban setting
  • Coaching in a K-12 work environment (e.g., team lead, mentor, consultant, etc.)
  • Leadership in planning and conducting or arranging and consulting for professional learning activities
Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:
  • Identifying and addressing practices that have resulted in inequitable outcomes
  • Developing and implementing systemic change to improve outcomes for students or school improvement
  • Expertise in professional learning communities, data literacy, or leadership practices
