Title I Instructional Parapro (DSS)

JOB TITLE: Paraprofessional - Title I Instructional Paraprofessional

REPORTS TO: Title I Coordinator/Title I Reading Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides remedial instruction to targeted students under supervision of a Reading Specialist and Title I Coordinator in a Title I Schoolwide program.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher.
2. Provides remedial, supplementary instructional support after a highly qualified teacher provides instruction or introduces a new skill.

1. Maintains confidentiality.

1. Works an assigned (non-flexible) schedule and is punctual.

1. Collaborates with Title I Reading Specialists for the preparation of materials for all Title I pull out students.

1. Assists the teacher in maintaining proper classroom control.

1. Provides positive reinforcement for students.

1. Demonstrates a professional and personal demeanor.

1. Takes initiative and performs independently.

1. Maintains a time and effort log in which daily activities are documented.

1. Will have prior approval from Title 1 Coordinator to work more time than designated.

1. Attends training as assigned.

1. Participates in Title I District data gathering as assigned.

1. Follows and enforces school and District regulations and policies.

1. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the building principal up to ' hour each day.

Job Requirements:

According to federal requirements, ALL K-12 paraprofessionals working with students in any capacity must meet the following requirements:

• High school diploma OR GED AND
• An Associate's degree or higher OR
• 60 or more credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education OR
• Obtain a passing score on one of the ADE approved online assessments below:

The Parapro online assessment costs $55 using a personal credit card .
