Job Summary:

The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing and overseeing compliance for Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA), Campus SaVe Act, Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (ADA), the Clery Act, and other assigned federal and or state laws/regulations. This position also works closely and collaboratively with relevant entities across campus (particularly Student Life, Academic Affairs, Athletics, University Police Department, the Chief Compliance Officer and the University's General Counsel) as well as participates in collaborative and coordinated efforts in monitoring, grievance processes, education, outreach and information reporting.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as the primary institutional resource on all Title IX, Clery Act, student, and minor safety related compliance issues regarding sexual misconduct, gender and/or sex discrimination, gender equity issues and retaliation.
2. Acts as an impartial party, maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion, and ensures a fair and neutral grievance process for all parties.
3. Provides direction and leadership to the University on all Title IX-related issues. Assists in the implementation of best practices, investigative support, training and education.
4. Develops and leads a comprehensive strategy to address all Title IX-related issues on campus.
5. Develops and provides education, training and outreach initiatives designed to educate and support faculty, staff, and students regarding their rights and, where applicable, obligations under Title IX, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, prevention programming, University policy and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, confidential resources, etc.
6. Identifies and analyzes trends or patterns in case management data and prepares regularly scheduled, detailed reports; uses data to identify process improvements; works with management to establish and maintain investigation procedures.
7. Assists in developing policies to ensure compliance with Title IX, Clery Act, Title VI, VAWA, Title VII and other relevant state and federal regulations.
8. Remains abreast of all Civil Rights laws including Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX state and federal regulations . Provides appropriate guidance and support to campus stakeholders.
9. Supervises personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
10. Provides comprehensive, timely, trauma-informed response and support services to students, faculty and staff reporting sexual misconduct or discrimination including interim measures and a continuum of dispute resolution options (e.g. Informal Resolution, Mediation and Restorative Justice).
11. Conducts intake meetings, initial inquiries and investigations as appropriate and necessary.
12. Works with the internal and external investigators to ensure a fair and neutral Title IX investigative process and enhanced hearing process.
13. Conducts and/or assists with Title IX, Title VII and Title VI harassment and discrimination investigations.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Advanced Degree (M.A., J.D., Ed.d. or Ph.D) from an accredited institution in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice) or J.D from an accredited institution in related field.
• 6 plus years of experience in a related field.
• Higher Education experience.
• Experience handling Title IX and discrimination matters, including investigations.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience handling EEO and other Civil Rights harassment and discrimination investigations.
• Conflict Resolution Training and Experience

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Formal Title IX Coordinator or investigator training.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Trauma Informed Training.
• EEO Investigator Training
• Mediation/Conflict Resolution Training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of laws, policies and procedures related to Title IX, Violence against Women Act, the Clery Act and relevant EEO and Civil Rights laws.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret Title IX, federal, local and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and regulations
• Skill in communicating with various levels of the university and ability to foster positive interactions with diverse constituencies.
• Ability to conduct investigation interviews using proactive listening skills and thorough questioning techniques.
• Ability to exercise independent and mature judgement, maintain objectivity, and safeguard confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to understand the needs of the university and to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators and community partners.
• Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally an in writing, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of constituents.
• Advanced organizational, leadership and analytical skills with attention to detail and perspective.
• Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, respond to community needs and facilitate a variety of resolutions.
• Ability to manage multiple, on-going and complex caseload of EEO and Title IX-related reports and complaints to ensure prompt, effective and equitable resolutions.
• Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, crisis situations, civil rights trauma, and other associated stresses.
• Ability to help foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment as well as be a dedicated and effective team member and leader.

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
