The Transfer Equivalency Specialist will determine equivalencies and perform data entry for courses and test scores coming from other institutions of higher education, Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit including AP/IB/CLEP and military courses, as well as competency-based education assessments.

What you will do:


  • Take inputs from transcripts and academic records from other institutions and organizations, process the credit by adding courses to the student record through direct data entry or automated processing, apply the correct equivalency, research course content, and ensure that the transfer courses are correctly represented within the student's degree audit.
  • Research and interpret course content for the evaluation process by investigating course descriptions in college catalogs or by exchanging & collecting information with institutions in question; acquire knowledge in the application of calendar and grading systems, course requirements and transcript format.
  • Apply appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure the accuracy of the data within transfer articulation modules of the student information system including transfer tables and the specific student record and verifies the correct application of the data in the degree audit system.
  • Assist in the process to identify new guidelines to improve procedures within business processes and data processing.
  • Assist in other areas on the Transfer and Graduation Services team to include, but not be limited to graduation checkout processes, degree audit coding or maintenance, and support for planner and scheduler technologies.
  • Examples of project work include reviewing courses from one institution to ensure that all courses are represented in transfer tables in uAchieve, or learning and processing specialty transfer credit such as study abroad or international transfer articulation.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $43,269 - 45,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with overseeing data maintenance related to compliance with academic policies.
  • Experience with student information systems within a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Academic Services or Student Services in a higher education setting.
  • Experience in Registrar's Office operations in a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to analyze multiple complex system components including but not limited to Campus Solutions and the uAchieve system.
  • Ability to work independently.
Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required. The Registrar's Office supports the Commencement Ceremony two times per year on Saturdays.
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely up to two days per week , based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
