JOB DESCRIPTION

Big Ten Network is searching for a Transmission Operator to join their team in Chicago, IL. The Transmission department is the central nervous system for the network. The team consists of Transmission and Ingest operators whose responsibilities include the facilitation of inbound and outbound transmission, recording and organizing of all linear and B1G+ streaming events for the network. This includes creating and communicating transmission and record schedules for our Master Control, located in Tempe, AZ for air. Transmission coordinates the fax to ensure the integrity of the media for air with Tempe. Ingest is also responsible for the transfer of all programming and studio prefeeds to Master Control. Transmission is also the department that coordinates, feeds, and records all press-conferences, talkbacks, and breaking news in addition to the live events on B1G network, other broadcast entities and B1G+ stream.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow a detailed daily schedule to bring in, fax, and record of all Big Ten Conference sporting events, press conferences, and breaking news events
  • Downlink satellite coordinates, coordinate reception of IP, fiber and cellular formatted transmission for content including live sporting and studio events, requests from Producer for social media content (i.e. Twitter, HUDL, Tagboard), downloads from Sportradar, melts, and Veritone transfers
  • PGAD fiber feed from network partners for conference events
  • Communicate with the FOX technical center for the distribution of both live and prerecorded events and programming
  • Work with studio production, editing and programming to ensure proper distribution of programming for air.
  • Create and communicate the PL codes for all live programming to Remote Operations and Tempe Master Control
  • Enter all the Elemental data for all BTN+ events to deliver events from the universities or network partners to our streaming platform for streaming distribution and delivery
  • Ensure the video and audio integrity of all streaming and linear events


WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Knowledge of GV or related Video Production and Content Management System
  • Knowledge of college sports
  • Proactive problem solver with the ability to prioritize and concurrently handle multiple, time sensitive requests within a high-pressure environment


NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Bachelor's degree or related field
  • Knowledge of encoders, decoders, IRDs, satellite and IP protocol, waveform, vectorscopes, and streaming content systems
