The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists coordinator with personnel functions and in securing, maintaining, and managing material resources.
  • Assists coordinator with staff scheduling and planning professional development of Route Supervisors, Route Clerks, Drivers, Bus-Aides and substitutes.
  • Plans, develops, and implements an operational safety plan for the Transportation Department.
  • Assists Coordinator in communicating and clarifying the Transportation Department's mission to students, staff, and community.
  • Assists Coordinator to ensure all local, state, and federal laws and board policies are being met in all Transportation Department operations.
  • Supervises transportation staff as designated by the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Assists in accident investigation and oversight as determined by the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Transportation Coordinator.


QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of Transportation Operations experience is preferred.

Must possess a valid Alabama Commercial Driver's License and State School Bus Driver's Certificate or obtain each within six months of hire date.

Must have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and be very detail-oriented.

Must possess excellent communication skills for short and long term projects.

Must have excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Must be a self-starter, performing a wide range of functions without boundaries.

Must be insurable as determined by MCPSS personnel into private and business driving records within any three-year time frame.

SALARY: $67,338- $72,341

**Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.**
