Official Position Description:

Manages complex projects by independently generating &/or reviewing standard detailed drawings for specific portions of construction and maintenance plans for transportation projects and assists with the review of highway, traffic signal & safety plans (e.g. designs and prepares details to provide proper use of traffic control devices to assure safe and efficient traffic movements) under the general supervision of a registered professional engineer; assists with the production of the Annual HSP work Plan and the Annual Safety & Congestion Work Plan); Manages and assures accurate and timely updating of management system information systems relative to the delivery of the bridge program (i.e. ELLIS, TMS, BMS, PMS) and assures business rules, policies & procedures are implemented & maintained as standard business practices in the studies section work environment. Performs and reviews rate of return analysis, speed warrant analysis, no parking studies, level of service studies, turn lane warrants, access management studies utilizing SYNCHRO, HCS, QUEZ and other analytical methods.

Prepares required reports relative to assigned projects(i.e. District Traffic Priority list, purpose & need reports, costs estimates); approves and signs documentation (e.g. approves use of contingencies); Performs studies for and provides data to Safety & Congestion Coordinator for HSP Work Plan, Annual Safety & Congestion Work Plan & District Annual Work Plan and assists other Studies section team members in the preparation of the work plans; gathers and coordinates raw technical field data and researches existing records; creates reports to provide detailed information or technical data to higher level engineers; generates cost data and recommends improvements.

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned to facilitate operational efficiency (i.e. meets with general public, governmental officials to provide information regarding projects, assists with establishing goals for section and forecasting budget); confers with higher level engineers or transportation technicians and provides advice on bridge related activities/issues to internal/external customers; assists with generating internal/external correspondence regarding bridge studies activities; attends seminars, meetings and other work related training.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.

-Or Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
