The California Air Resources Board is seeking motivated and experienced applicants to work on a flagship greenhouse gas reduction program-the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). We are seeking Air Pollution Specialists (APS) to support the objectives of the program. These positions are part of a team involved in policy and technical areas of the program including: leading regulatory changes, analyzing alternative fuel trends, designing provisions to better promote alternative fuels and zero emission vehicle (ZEV) deployment, investigating the economics of alternative fuel production technologies, consideration of equity, assessing the supply and demand of the LCFS credit market, and monitoring the LCFS credit market to deter and detect manipulation.

As an Air Pollution Specialist, you will conduct economic and environmental analysis of low carbon transportation technologies and fuels-related policies; analyze and report on LCFS fuels and credit market performance data; analyze transportation policies in the context of California's long-term climate goals; analyze fuel supply and demand in California; review applications submitted under ZEV infrastructure provisions; evaluate fuel markets outside of California for how they may interact with the LCFS; track federal fuels investment opportunities; and provide policy recommendations to improve the LCFS program. You will work independently and with team members, and communicate regularly with stakeholders and other interest groups.

Working Conditions

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.
