About the role

What will you be responsible for?
Newmont's Global Travel Manager will be responsible for leading Newmont's Global Travel Program and Travel category management sourcing, contracting, and procurement of all related services for the company. This role will be responsible for setting the strategy and optimizing the travel program to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness while maintaining a high-level of direct stakeholder customer service and working with suppliers and service providers to perform superb day-to-day travel operational results.

Manage Global Travel Category Strategy & Spend:
  • Lead Newmont's Global Travel Program and Travel category by developing and managing the entire travel strategy and operations.
  • Develop category and sourcing strategies to support Travel management objectives to maximize cost reduction opportunities without sacrificing quality or service delivery.
  • Implement category, sourcing, and procurement methods, negotiating and facilitating favorable commercial agreements to optimize outcomes for Newmont.
  • Review Global Travel Standard and recommend changes where appropriate, as the key Standard business stakeholder.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving market conditions and changes in regulations or requirements related to travel; effectively communicate changes to key internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct benchmarking projects and analysis to determine best in class opportunities, where appropriate, including monitoring industry trends and mitigating potential cost impact.
  • Report accomplishments and communicate initiatives and other issues to leadership.

Global Service & Support:
  • Support, influence, and execute Global Travel strategies in alignment with global stakeholders.
  • Provide and hold service providers accountable to their respective service delivery or service level to Newmont travelers at a strategic and operational level.
  • Ensure Day-to-day accountability for travel operations and customer service, across all levels of the Newmont organization; provide and act as the global subject matter expert for travel related processes, systems, and service provider relations owner.
  • Effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders across all organizational levels, ensuring cohesive alignment towards advancing organizational objectives.
  • Act as liaison between the systems (e.g., Online Booking Tool, Concur Expense), any agencies, and Newmont employees; troubleshoot data feed issues within booking tool and update travel profiles as needed.
  • Provide guidance for travel related inquiries and manage urgent travel related issues as needed;
  • Maintain and provide content for Travel SharePoint sites and booking tool portals.
  • Collaborate with other functions or regions and sites to ensure efficient and effective processes, clear procedures, and safety protocols to allow for seamless travel operations, customer service and traveler well-being; work closely to ensure consistency in the travel experience, considering the need for regional or site differences in processes, tools and business needs.
  • Anticipate and manage possible contingencies and dependencies, ensuring proactive planning and real-time analytical thinking during intense or peak periods of travel or service delivery.


Responsibilities continued

Travel Supplier Contract & Relationship Administration:
  • Interface with travel management systems, outsourcing providers, and various integrations required for a global organization (HR, Accounting, etc.)
  • Manage the relationships between Newmont, the Travel Management Company and other category suppliers as appropriate (i.e., Airlines, Hotels, Corporate Jets etc.).
  • Manage supplier or service provider's quarterly and annual Business Reviews and support annual Business Planning Sessions;
  • Manage and analyze travel management reports (i.e., KPI, Scorecard, Dashboards, savings) and provide day-to-day operational direction.
  • Monitor the cost and performance against major contracts in the Travel program.
  • Work with the Commercial SC Compliance and Risk teams to ensure compliance to the Newmont Travel standard is properly adhered to and service performance is managed at optimal levels throughout the organization.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or business, is preferred, or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of directly related travel category management and leadership of a corporate global travel program.
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience in Supply Chain including experience in sourcing, procurement, negotiations, contracting, category management, supplier management, and stakeholder management;
  • Knowledge of travel and expense management processes and technologies, including reporting and performance management of the day-to-day support and services by travel service providers and suppliers.
  • Substantial knowledge and experience executing a range of travel related procurement management activities including but not limited to airline, hotel, corporate or leased jet, rental car, and other travel related systems and service providers.
  • Experience in developing and / or managing a Global Travel standard and optimizing to ensure safe, effective, and efficient practice.
  • Strong track record of negotiating contracts with experience negotiating best-in-class travel-based services and value.
  • Proven ability to communicate at all levels, from support staff to executive leadership team members or Board of Directors is essential.
  • Strong regional, country, or site cultural and travel knowledge with ability to support and advise based on knowledge or experiences to shape category management strategy for sourcing, contracting, and procurement of the global travel category.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and influence of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to contribute to a high-performance culture by developing and collaborating within the service providers, functional departments, and other key stakeholders
  • Multi- Language (e.g., Spanish, French, or Dutch) skills is desired and a plus.
  • Organized self-starter and autonomous (service providers may be spread across regions and time zones).
  • Negotiation skills and confidence to negotiate at all levels including C-Level/Executives
  • Ability to navigate international travel regulation, customs, currencies, and rules.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient analytical (including financial) abilities.
  • Strong professionalism - calm, organized, dependable, positive attitude and vigilant.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Experience with SAP and/or SAP Ariba and SAP Concur a plus.

Working conditions and location:
  • The position is located in Denver, CO.
  • Collaboration and interaction are expected with cross-functional teams (at all levels) and across each regional organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.
  • Position may require travel to domestic and international sites.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $106,800 to 126,825. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
