TheDepartment of Parks and Recreationis looking for a Tree Trimmer - Heavy Truck Driver to operate a bucket truck and perform senior arboricultural work to perform tree pruning, tree removal, large tree relocation, tree shaping, general clean up during and after tree maintenance activities.

As a Tree Trimmer - Heavy Truck Driver, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Operating a 25,950 GVW or larger dump truck, boom truck, bucket truck, stump grinder, industrial brush chipper, and other vehicles and equipment in connection with tree maintenance and removal operations, including hauling debris to disposal sites.
  • Removing or pruning trees and branches and trims or removing palms and fronds for public safety, maintenance of tree health, and general aesthetic reshaping following accepted industry standards
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the care and maintenance of grounds and landscaped areas, including the trimming, pruning and care of trees and shrubs, and some truck driving.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of proper tree trimming techniques and practices; common tree diseases and infestations; the use of appropriate insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers; and demonstrated the ability to climb trees with or without spikes; diagnose and treat conditions harmful to trees; and operate heavy trucks.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS:

The following license and certificates are required for the job at the time indicated.

At the time of application:
  • Valid commercial driver's license with proper endorsements (The current vacancy requires a CDL Class B or higher).
  • Current State Department of Transportation medical examination certificate.
Verification Requirement: You must submit a copy of your valid CDL Class B or higher, current DOT medical examination certificate, and current Certified Arborist or Tree Worker (ISA) certificate to verify you meet the requirement. Prior to completion of probation:
  • Current Certified Arborist or Tree Worker (International Society of Arboriculture) certificate.

NOTE: All of the above license and certificates must be maintained on a current basis.
