Montgomery County Government, Alcohol Beverage Services Department (ABS) is recruiting for Trucker Driver Helper/Warehouse Worker. Generating more than $40 million in net income annually, Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) is the sole distributor of beer, wine, and spirits for Montgomery County. With more than 450 employees, ABS operates a distribution center in addition to 26 full-service beer, wine, and spirits retail stores and manages alcohol licensing, regulation, and education for more than 1,000 licensed establishments.

Truck Driver Helper/Warehouse Workers assist the Truck Driver in the unloading and delivery of all liquor, wine and beer products to licensees and County liquor stores and may also be assigned to pull orders for shipments and customer pickups or assigned general warehouse duties.

When assigned as truck driver helper, employees accompany drivers who are making deliveries and unload merchandise using roller racks and hand trucks. When assigned to the warehouse, employees use handcarts and pallet jacks to load or unload merchandise and perform general labor and housekeeping duties. Overtime is required during peak seasons.

ABS offers a Monday-Friday work week during daytime hours for the truckdriver helper/warehouse worker, all deliveries are within Montgomery County using our well-maintained vehicle fleet.

Heavy physical effort is used in recurring lifting, pushing, bending and pulling cases and kegs of beer, liquor, and wine weighing up to 160 pounds in making deliveries.

Selected candidates will be required to complete a physical abilities (lifting) test, the required medical examination, drug and alcohol screening test, and background investigation prior to appointment.

Individuals appointed to this position must be at least 18 years of age on the date of appointment, as required by State law to handle alcoholic beverages.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One (1) year general warehouse experience.

Education: Ability to read and write in English.

Equivalency: None.

Physical Ability: Ability to independently move objects weighing up to160 pounds.

License: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence when/if required for job-related duties.

Age: Individuals appointed to this position must be at least 18years of age on the date of appointment, as required by State law to handle alcoholic beverages.
