* Team operates as Regional Design team -- large team sharing projects across the Southeast

* Prepares complicated truss design and layout drawings - layout drawings may include beams and metal connectors sized and supplied by the company

* Develops layout and design drawings from architectural drawings or sketches provided to the company

* Makes phone calls to building designers or professionals to obtain or clarify information shown

* Draws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence

* Prepare truss repair drawings for review and approval by a professional engineer

* Writes technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties

* Will be trained on material for Wood Truss Council Level 1-3 certifications -- Company will cover the cost of the exam (not required but encouraged)

* Junior candidates will be provided extensive online and in-person training, will partner w/ an experienced designer -- Will train on software, truss math, blue print reading, etc.

(More experienced Designers)

* Reviews and checks layout and design drawings prepared by less experienced truss technicians and assists in making modifications prior to release

* May obtain information pertaining to products that have been field modified or damaged - information is summarized and given to a professional engineer to evaluate and complete repair drawings when required

* Analyzes technical data and reports to determine if design meets specifications

* Understands the building code and applies knowledge of special truss industry issues

* Analyzes plans and diagrams, or observes and makes notes on material processing, to determine material processing specifications or specifications for construction activities

Salary ranges from $60,000 to 65,000 based on experience.

Required Skills & Experience

Wood truss design experience utilizing MiTek software, preferrably MiTek Sapphire or SE.

Experience with high production and single family/custom home design.

Some commercial and multifamily design is a major plus.

Reviewed designs prior to project completion.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* College degree

* MiTek Certificate of Completion and Manufacturing Certificate in Truss Design preferred

* Experience in a truss plant and/or as an estimator

* Some expertise with wall panel design is a major plus
