Summary

o Under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the supervision of the supervisor of the professional nurse, perform a variety of clerical duties with patient care unit operations.

Responsibilities

o Communicates with members of the health care team, patients, and visitors using oral and written means such as the telephone, and Vocera. The use of appropriate and courteous communication must be maintained 100% of the time. o Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Adheres to HIPAA laws. o Accurately stamps, assembles, completes and processes patients' charts as indicated. o Maintains accurate clinical records, documenting information as per the hospital policy. o Monitors electronic and paper charts daily for incomplete histories, unsigned verbal orders and brings same to the attention of the appropriate member of the health care team for correction. o Maintains an orderly, clean and business-like environment at the nursing station and surrounding areas to assist members of the health care team in the performance of their jobs despite high stress factors. o Maintains professional competence through formal education, workshops, and unit specific education. Maintains currency of educational file. Attends 80% or greater staff meetings, reviews and initials those meeting minutes not attended. Completes mandatory education and employee health requirements. o Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
