Job Description Summary
This position is a research specialist role which involves direct support of the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinators in MUSC Neuro-X Lab. Duties include assist with the recruitment of research participants and the data collection of behavioral, physiological and brain imaging research data. This position involves working with researchers, clinicians, and patients in the research setting, as well as administering experimental brain stimulation techniques on research participants in the laboratory setting as well as in the telehealth setting. Provide clerical support for Principal Investigator.

Job Description

FSLA: Hourly

Work Schedule: M-F, 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Job Duties:
  • 35% - Assist with the recruitment of research participants and the collection of behavioral, physiological and brain imaging data through telephone interviews and onsite clinic recruitment. The Research Specialist will be responsible for implementing recruitment procedures specifically as it relates to research subject identification through tumor registries, electronic medical records, mailing invitation letters and conducting follow-up telephone interviews.
  • 35% - Conduct data collection and data entryinto study database and maintain study binders and other regulatory files. Specifically, the Research Specialist will be responsible for carrying out study activities like administering brain stimulation and filling out participant data forms. Additionally, the Research Specialist will be required to develop and maintain study databases for collecting and storing study data. The Research Specialist will also be responsible for creating and storing all study documents and ensuring that all study related materials are maintained following regulatory protocols.
  • 30% - Work with researchers, clinicians, and patients in clinical and community settings to implement research projects in the Neuro-X Lab. The Research Specialist will be responsible for organizing community outreach activities, developing community educational materials, and conducting data collection activities.


Preferred Education and Experience: Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills and ready to adapt in a dynamic research environment. Knowledge of computer-based information systems desirable. Have ability to present information effectively in both written and verbal form. Should be detail-oriented, personable, and have good problem solving and analytical skills. Research experience in health related areas preferred, but not required. Lastly, a team player with strong problem solving skills that is comfortable working independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and four years of relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
