Job Description

Works independently under the Campus Quality & Compliance Manager/Sign ShopManagerwithin the Facilities Department. Serves as theShop Supervisorperforming duties pertaining to theSignShop. Coordinates daily assignments and oversees equipment along with the shop inventory. Works on various signage projects involving layouts, schedules & maps. Supervises the shop personnel. Implements MUSC sign standards.

Job Duties:

30% - As the shop supervisor, performs duties pertaining to the Shop. Work involves daily assignment coordination of work orders, ensures equipment operations and shop inventory are maintained. Oversees the safety component of the Shop. Manages the work order FixIt requests on a daily basis. Performs purchasing functions for the Shop - requests quotes, initiates requisitions, change orders, purchase orders and other miscellaneous transactions with vendors and our finance departments as necessary. Orders all office supplies and materials.

25% - Partakes in reviews, approvals, installations and coordination with Facilities staff and external vendors on signage projects. Implements MUSC signage standards related to new construction, renovations and department requests for signage and wayfinding needs.

25% - Designs various sign mock-ups usinggraphics softwareas necessary. Updates sign specs/standards. Conducts meetings/site surveys with customers/vendors for both on and off-campus. Takes on special projects related to signage/wayfinding as necessary.

20% - Supervises the shop technician(s) and program assistant(s) (2 or more employees) on a daily basis with duties related to shop activities; such as sign repairs, fabrications and installations. Conducts daily shop meetings. Provides leadership and holds direct reports accountable for the work they do, behaviors they display, and their compliance with policies and procedures by providing them with clear and timely expectations, training & resources, coaching & counseling, communications and consequences. Performs performance reviews as necessary.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and four years professional experience directly related to the area of employment.
