Job Description Summary
The College of Medicine Dean’s Office Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting communications for the college across a variety of platforms - web, digital communications, internal communications platforms, social media, and other areas. This position will report to the college’s Director of Communications and work collaboratively with internal clients to execute on a wide range of communications tactics and platforms. This communications professional is able to balance multiple and changing deadlines, build trust with internal clients, and partner effectively with colleagues. A background in managing web content, digital communications, internal communications and social media platforms is desired. While occasional remote work may be possible, this position is expected to be in-person/on campus.

Job Description

25% Web management - Reviews and performs updates to College of Medicine Dean’s Office web pages to maintain timely and accurate information with attention to SEO and design. Ensures consistency and compliance with MUSC brand and web guidelines and seeks to optimize content for search engines in support of COM web objectives. Collaborates with program coordinators and administration to maintain web pages for a wide range of areas associated with the COM.

20% COM web page oversight - The coordinator will conduct regular reviews of COM department web pages and the web pages of other entities that fall under the COM and work with areas to ensure web pages are current and consistent with MUSC brand and web guidelines.

15% Social media - In coordination with the Director of Communications, this position oversees the social media presence for the college using relevant applications and digital platforms to create and manage content across the college’s social media channels. Creates visually appealing content in order to regularly engage and grow the external and internal audiences of the college. This position will be required to attend certain college events and activities to support the social media presence for these activities.

15% Visual communications - Uses digital design templates to assist in content creation for various print and digital channels, including email, digital and print signage, social media, video, and flyers. Along with the college’s Director of Communications, serves as a brand ambassador, guiding internal stakeholders to comply with MUSC brand standards and complete the approval process for branded materials. Also manages PowerPoint slide content, scheduling, and posting news on the college’s digital sign(s).

10% Internal news - Provide support with developing written content (writing in AP style), providing visual content, disseminating, and tracking of the College of Medicine weekly update and other communications vehicles. This includes attendance at college events and activities to support these efforts.

5% Web content development - Works with Dean’s Office teams and others as needed to develop and implement appropriate content for COM audiences.

5% Chatbot support - In coordination with the Director of Communications, this position is responsible for ongoing oversight of web chatbot responses relevant to the college, ensuring the system is fed with appropriate updates and refinements as needs arise.

5% Other duties as assigned.
