Job Description Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a research-track Assistant Professor position in
Vision research. Vision researchers at MUSC comprise a vibrant and highly interactive community, with projects focused on retinal degeneration and glaucoma. The
research initiatives are supported by outstanding core facilities for mass spectroscopy and imaging. This position will support and reinforce the ongoing programs
of research on immunometabolic regulation of retinal angiogenesis. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with a range of molecular, cellular, and
whole animal techniques used in Vision research.
Duties will include:
• Gather research data and conduct complex data analysis
• Compile data for progress reports and develop research protocols
• Provide research instruction to students and technicians
• Prepare and edit manuscripts and/or other publications and conduct literature reviews
• Prepare material for submission to agencies and foundations that fund research
• Provide oversight, coordination, and guidance of research activity conducted in the lab
Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, neuroscience, biochemistry, or in a related field.

Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
