USA Rugby is the national governing body for the sport of rugby union in the United States. It is responsible for overseeing all aspects of rugby, including youth and adult programs, men's and women's national teams, competitions, coaching education, and player development.
Position Summary:
USA Rugby is seeking a detail-oriented and highly-organized Compliance Officer to oversee compliance and risk management within the organization. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that USA Rugby complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role requires a thorough understanding of compliance practices, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and organizations. The position is Denver, CO based with in-office expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Management:
• Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify areas of improvement.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Stay up to date with federal, state, and local regulations relevant to rugby and sports organizations.
• Ensure compliance with World Rugby regulations, USOPC regulations, SafeSport guidelines, anti-doping rules, and other governing bodies' requirements.
Policy Development and Enforcement:
• Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance across all aspects of USA Rugby's operations.
• Enforce compliance policies and recommend corrective actions when violations occur.
Training and Education:
• Develop and conduct compliance training programs for staff, coaches, referees, and players to ensure awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.
• Promote a culture of compliance within the organization.
Incident Reporting and Investigation:
• Establish a process for reporting compliance violations and investigate incidents as needed.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities and organizations to ensure proper handling of compliance issues.
Stakeholder Communication:
• Communicate compliance requirements and updates to stakeholders, including USA Rugby staff, board members, and external partners.
• Serve as a point of contact for compliance-related inquiries and concerns.
Risk Management:
• Identify and mitigate compliance risks within the organization.
• Work with other departments to implement risk management strategies and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Sports Management, or a related field; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or related fields, preferably in sports organizations.
• Strong knowledge of compliance regulations, including World Rugby rules, SafeSport guidelines, and USOPC requirements.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work in the Denver, Colorado based location.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000 based on experience
