Pay

This position is a Non-Exempt position at pay grade 113.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Utilities Maintenance Foreman is responsible for leading and training Utility Mechanic staff, assigning and reviewing work orders in Maximo (CMMS), inspecting work performed by Utility Mechanics and contractors to ensure compliance with standards, generate reports, and make recommendations to Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Support the Maintenance Supervisor in leadership and management

• Lead daily work assignments, prioritize work, and assist with training for the Utility Mechanics

• Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement and improve equipment reliability, including the areas of maintenance, plant and pump station, reliability, and safety, health, and environmental performance

• Provide accurate and timely documentation of work performed in Maximo, the City's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) program

• Lead and guide mechanical techs performing routing and emergency treatment plant and lift station troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance functions including, but not limited to, mechanical equipment and systems, pumps, motors, generators, blowers, compressors, treatment plant process equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, piping, valves, drivelines, conveyor systems, gearboxes, speed reducers, filtration systems, chemical feed systems, and de-water equipment

• Perform failure analysis on various pieces of mechanical equipment and systems, pumps, motos, generators, blowers, compressors, treatment plant process equipment, pneumatics and hydraulic systems, piping, valves, drivelines, conveyor systems, gearboxes, speed reducers, filtration systems, chemical feed systems, and de-water equipment

• Perform fabrication tasks using power tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches

• Supervise and train employees to safely operate power tools, overhead cranes, crane truck, and other heavy equipment and machinery

• Perform duties as Safety Officer to ensure employees comply with all safety practices while working in and around rotating mechanical equipment, hazardous gases and chemicals, elevated heights, confined space entry operations, and other hazardous working conditions

• Lead and maintain mechanical operations by inspecting and evaluating lift stations daily

• Perform in filed testing, equipment start-up and shutdown, verification of operating performance, and system troubleshooting

• Supervisor buildings and grounds maintenance by assigning weekly work schedules to ensure grounds, buildings, and equipment are maintained in a neat, clean, and safe operating condition to stay in compliance with TCEQ regulation

• Communicate with supervisors, inspection personnel, and contractors to provide inspection, maintenance, and construction support for all mechanical systems and facilities associated with wastewater treatment plants and lift stations

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience

• Must obtain a TCEQ Wastewater Operator License within one (1) year of hire

• Must obtain a Class B CDL required within one (1) years of hire

• Class A CDL preferred

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
