Job Summary

Create a positive impression by professionally greeting customers, asking how to help them, and direct them to their destinations. Park and retrieve vehicles, assist customers with paying at kiosks, control parking, manager the valet podium and keys, keep work area clear of debris, and maintain a neat and clean uniformed appearance.

Responsibilities

• Must possess and exercise the following skills: attention, communication, professionalism, and punctuality. • Provide assistance to individuals with disabilities and patients and visitors as necessary. • Be alert and at the ready to welcome visitors with a smile and kind words upon their arrival and to thank them upon their departure. Attend to their needs to create great first and last impressions. • Supply visitors with directions and information about their next point of contact or services as necessary. • Provide satisfactory customer service and promote CAMC services. As the first point of contact, your assistance should encourage visitors to return in the future. • Direct traffic as necessary in accordance to hospital parking regulations. • Continually inspect your work area for unusual or hazardous conditions. If discovered, immediately barricade the hazard and notify the Security Supervisor for resolution. • Assist in emergencies such as fire, unruly persons, or violations of hospital regulations. • Thoroughly evaluate the condition of vehicles being valeted. • Engage in safe and lawful driving practices and use caution to protect customers' vehicles and their belongings. • Always securely lock valeted vehicles to discourage theft. • Manage customers' keys and maintain accurate valet parking ticket records. • Be observant of suspicious persons or activities and immediately notify the Security Supervisor. • Monitor and keep the building entrance where you are working clear of trash and debris. • Advise persons on campus who are smoking that smoking is prohibited on the entire campus. At Memorial Hospital, direct smokers to the nearest area off campus or to the designated smoking area in the visitors' garage. • Assist with wheelchairs, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
