Job Description

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Intern will be responsible for developing a value-based payment strategy for improving population health and mitigating total cost of care for a subset of NYC Health + Hospital's attributed patient population.
• Intern is expected to analyze existing administrative, financial, and clinical processes and datasets and propose creative, realistic solutions to improve population health oversight and management.
• Intern's proposed strategy and intervention will focus on improving population health for vulnerable New Yorkers with acute care needs, such as New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.
• Intern will have the opportunity to shadow NYC H+H clinicians in care settings, conduct subject matter expert interviews with internal stakeholders, and participate in Managed Care meetings.
• Intern will be expected to support ongoing and ad-hoc project management tasks, such as notetaking, organizational tasks using SharePoint and shared drives, developing educational slide decks for colleagues, writing a monthly newsletter, and drafting one-pagers on key Managed Care topics of interest.
• As the capstone of their internship, interns will be responsible for developing a VBP business plan and an implementation plan for the proposed sub-population, including projecting the business plan's financial impact on NYC H+H, developing a cost-benefit analysis, and thinking through the operational implementation strategy.

This position will have a duration of 4 months.

Minimum Qualifications

Students entering graduate or professional studies (beyond a Bachelors degree) and subsequent years of study.
