Responsibilities

In this position you will use your phlebotomy skills to collect blood samples in community settings for cancer screening tests or other medical procedures. You'll also serve as a CDL-licensed driver for the Dietz and Watson Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center Mobile Cancer Screening Unit.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Performs venipunctures on patients who meet cancer screening or other medical guidelines.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Follows proper infection control procedures before, during and after drawing blood.
  • Verifies patient identification and explains sampling procedures to patients.
  • Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection, as well as other required documentation.
  • Processes samples in the centrifuge in preparation for shipping or laboratory analysis.
  • Safely drive the Dietz and Watson SKCC Mobile Cancer Screening Unit to and from community screening events.
  • Comply with all safe driving practices, policies, and processes at all times.
Qualifications
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required, Minimum Interstate CLASS B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement. DOT Physical.
  • Phlebotomy technician certification in Pennsylvania and New Jersey required.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred; 3+ years of related experience required.
Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.
