thyssenkrupp integrated its Forging & Machining and Undercarriage businesses to start the new business unit Forged Technologies. With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry.

Forge

• Set up and operate forge line machines for routine established work
• Select correct tooling for the job task and correctly set up the tools required
• Ensure die alignment; make necessary adjustments
• Load billets onto conveyor
• Manually flip forging from die impression
• Monitor press tonnage
• Engage and monitor robots for operation and setup
• Conduct necessary maintenance
• Report downtime

Final Control

• Visually inspect the part for defects such as seams, material handling marks, laps, and under fill
• Conduct magnetic particle inspection
• Conduct Brinell Hardness test periodically according to procedures
• Grind out imperfections
• Sort defected cranks based on scrap description
• Maintain white board record of defects
• Allocate cranks to appropriate scrap hopper
• Attach appropriate process tags to containers that cranks are placed in that pass inspection
• Upkeep and maintenance of shot blast and final control booth
• Complete daily Hoist Inspection Sheet and Mag Machine Inspection Sheet
• Other assignments and projects as specified
