In addition to our comprehensive financial services, which include brokerage, investment advisor, financial and wealth planning, Morgan Stanley developed and enhanced their lending, and cash management capabilities by combining our lending financial services business with private banking products built specifically to service the needs of ICAs and their clients.

International Banking and Lending (IBL) within the PBG is focused on origination and execution of international lending transactions across all platforms (ECL, LAL, Margin, Letters of Credit, & Tailored Lending), where applicable, providing ICAs and their clients with customized banking and lending solutions to meet the needs of global families residing in international markets served by the business.

International Lending Specialists (ILS) will support International Senior Lending Advisors (ILA) within the IBL team and grow our International Banking & Lending business serving high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients residing in key IWM jurisdictions. The ILS will be covering a dedicated territory that will include international wealth management offices across the United States. The ILS will be co-located with ICAs and coordinate activities across their market(s) in partnership with ILAs, ICAs, International Private Bankers (PB), and the rest of the IBL and Credit team (CRM).

Position Summary

The ILS will partner and collaborate with ILAs, ICAs, PBs, Operations, and other support areas of the MSWM in the credit analysis, structuring, and execution of lending transactions for international clients, across different lending platforms, including Tailored Lending, where applicable (i.e. ECL, LAL, Margin, Letters of Credit, & Tailored Lending). Securities-based lending transactions will be a key focus as they represent the majority of transactions the ILS will structure and analyze. The ILS role will involve active client engagement and will also support IWM leadership on recruitment activities in partnership with the Senior Lending Advisor.

The ILS will be responsible for the following:

  • Structure securities-based credit transactions in accordance with the Firm's credit policy and risk framework.
  • Support the ILA and PB in business development and client engagement activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the PBs, ICAs and Service Professionals and drive execution of new lending business.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end securities-based lending process including transaction assessment, structuring, preparation of lending proposals, credit engagement, escalation management, and funding.
  • Support ILA in the procurement of Letter of Interest ("LOI") on complex credit transactions for IWM clients.
  • Negotiate terms on proposed credit transactions with the Credit Risk organization, in accordance with the risk framework.
  • Escalations and post-booking management on existing loans/credit facilities
  • Active pipeline management
  • Support IWM leadership on recruiting initiatives.


Qualifications:

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in lending origination and credit analysis within international private banking.
  • Investment/Commercial Real Estate, Art, Aircraft, Hedge Funds, Private Equity Bridge to Capital Call Lines, FX, & Securities Based Lending, including Letters of Credit, experience preferred.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Understanding of Reg U, Reg T, Rule 11d-1, and Reg W.

  • Travel is required.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
