The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Vice President, Medical - Crisis & Forensic Programs, a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive psychiatric crisis continuum and forensic programs. This pivotal leadership role demands a visionary who can navigate the complexities of psychiatric crisis management and forensic programs, ensuring that our services not only meet but exceed the standards of care. With your expertise, you'll lead the charge in overseeing our Crisis Stabilization Unit, Crisis Respite Units, Jail-based mental health services, the Neuropsychiatric Center, Mobile Crisis Outreach Team program, and forensic outpatient programs. Your role is instrumental in shaping innovative crisis psychiatric programs that respond to the unique needs of Harris County's diverse population, setting new benchmarks for care and recovery in mental health services. Key Responsibilities:
  • Medical Oversight and Leadership: Providing comprehensive medical oversight across the psychiatric crisis continuum and forensic programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care that aligns with industry standards and best practices.
  • Strategic Program Development: Guiding and contributing to the development of cutting-edge crisis psychiatric programs, leveraging your expertise to address gaps and enhance the continuum of care within the community.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Fostering strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including community leaders, healthcare providers, and government agencies, to drive forward the mission of The Harris Center.
  • Quality and Innovation: Championing quality improvement and innovation in clinical practices and patient care models, ensuring they are recovery-oriented, culturally competent, and inclusive.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of medical directors across various programs, instilling a culture of excellence, empathy, and continuous learning.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilizing data analytics and quality measurement tools to inform strategic decisions and improve clinical outcomes, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Community and System Change Advocacy: Acting as a key advocate for system change, identifying opportunities for enhancement in both behavioral and physical health systems from a holistic perspective.


Who We Are Looking For:
  • Education: B oard-Certified in psychiatry
      • Graduation from as Accredited Medical School and Psychiatric Residency Program.
      • Certificates, and Licenses: Texas Medical License
  • Experienced Psychiatrist Leader: We seek a board-certified psychiatrist with substantial medical management experience, specifically within psychiatric crisis settings and forensic programs. You should also have a minimum of 4 years in leadership roles that reflect a deep understanding of community psychiatry and crisis intervention. Candidates should embody integrity and flexibility, with a proven track record of fostering team and patient safety.
  • Strategic Visionary and Innovator: A forward-thinker who is passionate about developing and implementing cutting-edge psychiatric crisis management programs. Your vision will help bridge gaps in the current system, introducing novel approaches that cater to the unique needs of Harris County's diverse population. Candidates must demonstrate a history of developing and implementing advanced psychiatric crisis management programs, with the ability to address service gaps and cater to diverse populations.
  • Exceptional Communicator and Collaborator: With your strong communication skills, you are adept at building and maintaining relationships with a wide array of stakeholders, including health systems, community leaders, and government agencies. Your ability to foster collaboration and trust is paramount in driving systemic change.   • Data-Savvy Quality Improvement Advocate: Your expertise in behavioral health quality measurement and data analytics is crucial. What unique qualifications differentiate you from other candidates:

Strong preference for advanced administrative degree (MHA, MBA, MHSA, MPH) or FACHE, and specialty certification (child, addiction psychiatry), although not required.
