The Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation provides leadership and management for Coastal Carolina University's NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program consisting of 19 NCAA programs, 180 coaches and staff, and over 550 student-athletes. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Vice President provides strategic direction to ensure an appropriate role for the University in the rapidly changing landscape of college athletics. This includes promoting integrity and sportsmanship through academic and athletic excellence; driving an innovative NIL strategy that benefits student-athletes; generating revenue through creative and goal-oriented initiatives and fundraising for operational and capital needs; and creating interest in CCU athletics among faculty, staff, students, alumni, and local community residents. This position represents CCU and the Department with integrity while ensuring compliance with University, NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and other affiliated conference policies, fosters a positive culture of belonging, and promotes the role of athletics at CCU and communities across the Grand Strand and South Carolina.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive strategies for the CCU athletics program. Aligns the
department's strategies and goals with the university's mission, values, and strategic plan.

• Drives revenue growth in intercollegiate athletics by developing and executing strategic initiatives. Analyzes market trends, identifies new business opportunities, and creates targeted strategies to capitalize on them. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align efforts with overall business objectives and ensure seamless execution. Continuously monitors performance metrics, adjusts strategies as needed, and provides regular updates on progress towards revenue goals.

• Develops, recommends and actively monitors budgets to ensure athletic operations are fiscally
compliant. Works with President, CFO, and other Cabinet members to support the overall university budget.

• Collaborates with the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation (CAF) to achieve department and University strategic fundraising goals. Cultivates relationships for athletics fundraising and creates gift opportunities for donors and prospective donors, and constantly scans the environment for other sources of financial support.

• Develops and leads the department in carrying out an effective program for promoting and marketing the athletics programs within the University, region and nationally. Builds upon successful marketing relationships to promote the marketing, licensing, and merchandising associated with the University. Generates interest in CCU athletics among faculty, staff, students, alumni, and local community residents.

• Provides vision, planning, and administrative oversight for renovation and new facility construction while working with other departments as appropriate.

• Fosters a culture of innovation and excellence within the department. Creates an efficient and
productive operation for all athletic administrative staff. Leverages professional network to identify and implement best practices.

• Builds and maintains relationships with the Sun Belt Conference and the NCAA, and actively participates in league and conference meetings and activities.

Minimum Requirements

•Master's Degree required; Sports Management, MBA or JD preferred.

•Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics administration (e.g.,
Director, Deputy Director, Associate or Assistant Director, conference commissioner or assistant commissioner, etc.) with evidence of increased responsibility over time required; FBS experience preferred.

•Direct, first-hand experience managing intercollegiate athletics issues such as NIL, transfer
portal, conference realignment, Transformation Committee recommendations, student-athlete mental health and wellness, etc. is required.

•Demonstrated knowledge of - and track record of adherence to - all Federal and NCAA rules and
regulations pertaining to athletic compliance and other related athletic department operations including Title IX compliance.

•Demonstrated ability to create and implement comprehensive athletics department strategies and tactics; successful track record of achieving sought after goals.

• Significant skill and experience with cultivating relationships and creating gift opportunities;
track record of success in achieving department and University strategic fundraising goals.

• Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex budgets that ensures fiscal compliance;
successful track record of driving revenue growth over time.
