Firm Risk Management

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks.

Background on the Position

The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Market Risk Department (MRD) which is a team dedicated to providing governance and oversight of all market risk arising from the Firm's business activities. This role resides within the Market Risk Stress Testing team. The successful candidate should have knowledge about the principles of scenario design and stress testing, with a general knowledge of Market Risk principles, Macro-economic theory and a self-starting nature. The role involves supporting the design of Firm's idiosyncratic regulatory scenario and preparing documentation of the same by liaising with a host of risk managers and macro economists.

Primary Responsibilities

> Take a leading role in the design process of internal and regulatory stress testing scenarios including the setting of standards, effective challenge of scenario narratives, risk capture and stress loss drivers.

> Ensure the scenarios adhere to internal and regulatory standards and are validated through by appropriate governance forum

> Maintain high degree of documentation standards and liaise with stakeholders to complete internal and regulatory stress testing documentation requirements and governance

> Stay abreast of market trends, emerging risks and macroeconomic theme

> Continue to enhance the Firms' stress testing framework to ensure best-in-class capabilitie

Qualifications:

Experience

> Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience

> Preferred Market Risk Management, Financial Markets, Economics or Finance background and strong analytical skill

> Desired skills in project management, business processes, governance and documentation

> Desired is an understanding and interest in the concepts of scenario design for stress testing purposes, including an understanding of financial market dynamics and macroeconomic theme

> Strong writing and presentation skills to effectively bring forward the themes associated with the scenario design process and objective

> Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with a broad range of participants including senior management, market risk specialists, and analytical team

> Desired BCBS, bank capital CCAR and other regulatory experience

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $200,000 year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
