Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission; plans video tasks according to scheduling and client needs; plans and facilitates high quality studio and field based production and event coverage, converts and delivers format of completed edited products and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Research: Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks; watches and researches promotional videos and other video productions; Is aware of current U.S. & global political, and cultural trends.

2. Pre-Production: Brainstorms and develops video concepts in cooperation with existing Freedom Center brand initiatives; collaborates closely with the Creative Director and the creative team to visualize upcoming projects.

3. Production: Conducts field-based video production which involves operating all portable video and audio equipment; transports and sets up lighting and audio equipment as required; assists in the production and post-production of weekly and sometimes daily shows/podcasts; utilizes Freedom Center Studio equipment to transmit television news hits as needed; provides limited troubleshooting and maintenance of field production equipment; maintains and organizes camera equipment in an orderly manner.

4. Post-Production: Plans and performs video post-production tasks which include ingesting, sorting, converting, and organizing video footage; makes instinctive editorial decisions, rough cuts, audio adjustments, color correction, and final editing using Adobe Premiere Pro; Compresses video project for output and makes video available in a variety of formats as required such as different social media cuts unique to different platforms.

5. Communicates with the Creative Director and creative team as projects are edited; Obtains approval from all individuals involved in each project on drafts and final proofs.

6. Assists the creative team when necessary in creating digital art in the form of thumbnails and other graphics to pair with video content that was produced when necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise anyone.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Approximately Three to Four years of professional video production experience is required.
  • Must be extremely proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Basic knowledge of color correction is required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and having an eye for graphic design is preferred
  • Use of LU vehicles may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.


Work Environment

This job is a full-time position located on Liberty University's campus. The typical schedule takes place during regular business hours (8am - 5pm). SOME TRAVEL IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. Our creative team travels multiple times per year to various political and cultural events/conferences to produce content that aligns with our mission. There will be times when extended hours of work are required to meet deadlines.
