As The Sustainable Product Development engineer your main mission will be to support the engineering effort on sustainable product innovation and R&T projects. As a product development role, the Sustainable Product Development engineer will closely interact and collaborate with multiple department including but not limited to engineering, marketing and sales, supply chain, etc. The Sustainable Product Development engineer participates in the development of innovative cabin interior concepts and technologies by providing guidance, methods, tools supporting the appropriate technical and industrial choices required during product development.

This position is offered as part of a VIE contract based in United States, California and lasting 12 month. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable professional experience within a large Product Development Engineering group in an international environment.

Additional description
• Sustainable Product Development: You will be responsible for analyzing state of the art of technology and products and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the development of sustainable products throughout their lifecycle.
• Research and Analysis: You will support the identification of sustainable materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies that align with Safran Cabin sustainability objectives through comprehensive research.
• Material and Partner Sourcing: You will support the selection of sustainable materials and establish partnerships with like-minded suppliers committed to eco-friendly practices.
• Regulatory Compliance: You will stay current with environmental regulations and certifications related to sustainable product development, ensuring product adherence to industry standards.
• Integration: You will work closely with product designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to infuse sustainable product life cycle centric design principles into product concepts, prototypes, and production processes.
• Education and Training: You will support the development of training programs and resources to educate team members on sustainable design and development practices, fostering a culture of sustainability.
• Monitoring and Reporting: You will support the definition of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the environmental impact of our products and regularly report progress to stakeholders.

Candidate skills & requirements
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field
• Master's degree in applicable engineering discipline preferred

Experience:
• 0-3 years in sustainable engineering or product development
• Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of MS Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Other Skills:
• Knowledge of sustainable product development standards: Eco design methods and standards, Life cycle analysis
• Knowledge in engineering practices in one or more disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, electronics, thermal, electromechanical, materials, structural, aerospace, and chemical fields.
• Mature written and verbal communication skills with the ability to drive consensus to a balanced decision.
