The Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a visiting assistant teaching professor (appointment stream) in Public Affairs and Quantitative Methods. The teaching load is three courses per term (Fall and Spring); the position is outside the tenure track, with a one-year contract. We seek an individual dedicated to excellence in teaching.

The candidate will teach at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, and alumni committed to making significant contributions to society through public service. Responsibilities:

This individual will be responsible for the following:
  • Course development and teaching of 18 credits (six credits per term) of undergraduate and graduate courses. Preferred courses include quantitative methods, introduction to public service, and other topics in public affairs, broadly defined
  • Teaching courses in-person and online
  • Assisting with the program improvement process via curriculum review and curriculum development
  • Other duties or services as assigned



Qualifications:

Required:
  • Earned doctorate in public policy, public administration, or political science.
  • Commitment to teaching and evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equitable, just, and culturally relevant practices through teaching and service

Preferred:
  • University-level teaching experience, including online and hybrid teaching modalities
  • Experience advising university students


Salary and Rank: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure-stream).
