The Film and Media Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer in digital film production to begin August 2024, pending budgetary approval. The position is outside the tenure stream and runs from September 1, 2024, through April 30, 2025. Classes for the fall term begin on August 26, 2024.

The successful candidate will teach 6 courses in introductory to advanced film production per year, supervise students focused on film and media production, help monitor lab and classroom facilities and work on best practices and curriculum development. An ability to teach production emphasizing the intersection of technical production skills, storytelling skills, and the history and theory of moving image media is especially welcome, as is a specialization in directing narrative films and series.

Minimum requirements:

- BA/BFA degree in film and media production or a related field

or

- At least 3 years of digital filmmaking production experience

Preferred requirements in addition to the above:

- MFA or PhD in film and media production or related field

- At least 1 year teaching filmmaking in a post-secondary setting

- Specialization in directing narrative films or series
