The Information Technology Services Department has an opening for a VMware Windows Administrator. In this role, you will join a team responsible for the administration, management, security, and operations for the shared VMware-based enterprise computing environment supporting the City's business operations. This team is also involved in various city and department projects requiring technical support and subject matter expertise.

As a VMware/Windows Server Administrator, you will work with Senior and Lead VMware/Windows Server Administrators to perform operational tasks, such as server deployment and configuration, security patching, and operating system upgrades, process improvements. As a team you will provide high-level support services to resolve technical issues and ensure maximum uptime of the City's computing resources along with team projects.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Manage VMware virtualization infrastructure, including vSphere, vCenter.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for VMware environments.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems and applications.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize resource utilization.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth operations and integration.
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership.

SALARY

Pay Range: $76,627.20 to $118,892.80/annually.

Hiring Range: $76,627.20 to $107,806.40/annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of responsible experience in technical systems software (i.e., data base management telecommunications and operating systems)
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted

  • This position is subject to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background standards. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprinted and will have their fingerprints used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Three years of experience supporting physical or virtual Microsoft Windows servers.
  • Three years of experience administering virtual servers in a VMware environment.
  • Two years of experience administering servers in an environment with 50 or more servers
  • Experience working with CISCO Unified Computing System (UCS).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing Active Directory Objects.
  • Experience working with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as a series of practices in IT Services Management (ITSM) for aligning operations and services
  • Experience using PowerShell or scripting.
  • Other experience with servers, backup, patching, or updating, is a plus.
