VOA Texas (DFW) Public Health AmeriCorps

VOA National, VOA Texas, and the Dallas Housing Authority Housing Solutions for North Texas have partnered on a mixed-income senior affordable residential housing project. Consisting of 260 units for seniors 62 and older, the mixed-use/mixed finance property will include a fully furnished clubhouse, fitness room, business center, activity room, craft room, and healthcare facility leased to a local provider. The project is slated to be completed in 2023. In the meantime, VOA Texas will be providing public health services out of The Meadows satellite office in downtown Dallas, alongside our other affordable housing properties, Reentry Workforce programs our Homeless Veterans Reintegration program, and over 15 different Dallas service providers.

Member Duties : The VOA Texas Public Health AmeriCorps member will work as a frontline Community Health Worker in training at various VOA Texas affordable housing properties for individuals with low or no access in Dallas County. The position will serve as a liaison between the health services and our community to facilitate access to comprehensive, quality service and health care delivery. Key responsibilities include community event participation/representation, helping client's complete applications and other paperwork and completing checks on individuals with specific health conditions. Ultimately you will work with a diverse range of people to ensure they have access and resources needed to meet their health needs while out in the community
