Position Description:

ROLE SUMMARY

The primary focus of the VP, Category Management is to champion category profitability by advancing long-term vendor partnerships. This position will include negotiating high stakes and complex funding, overseeing the monitoring of the supply market, and implementing joint process improvement. The VP, Category Management will oversee a team of category managers and specialists to drive efficient category management.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Champion category profitability by advancing strategic, long-term vendor partnerships to manage brands and product groups as strategic business units towards enhancing customer value through process integration and information sharing
  • Oversee team of category managers and specialists, cultivating capabilities in brand and customer-centric, and data-driven, category pricing, planning and management
  • Negotiate high stakes and complex funding and cost deals across the largest vendor partners with long-term relationships with ATD
  • Collaborate with the Brand Portfolio and Supply Chain leadership to determine optimal inventory quantities
  • Champion category management techniques that realize value beyond traditional sourcing via collaboration with strategic suppliers
  • Oversee monitoring of supply market to identify opportunities resulting from new product and service offerings and/or market shifts
  • Prioritize category opportunities and establish multi-year plans
  • Implement joint process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Work with the Brand Portfolio teams to adapt various strategies to dealer needs
  • Ensure product collections across categories drive profitable, premium category assortments as well as premium customer experiences
  • Address category assortment plan resolution against issues on flow, pricing and distribution
  • Oversee robust analyses using research, category management capabilities, analytical tools, and data visualization to identify and communicate business opportunities or challenges


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business management or Marketing, Business Management or other 4-year degree
  • Four to six (5-7) years' experience and comprehensive knowledge of Category Management in a C-store environment
  • Two to four (2-4) years' experience managing managers and direct reports
