Job purpose

Lead business development function globally for Order Management Solutions (OMS) and Ocean Contract Management (OCM) and own and drive the functional strategy to generate new/ additional business, maximize profit and grow market share in line with the product's strategy, financial objectives, Group guidelines and policies.

Principal accountabilities
  • Develop and implement a global business development strategy aligned with OMS/OCM Product' business goals and growth objectives including financial objectives, Group guidelines and policies.
  • Lead an organizational team structure spread across the globe (Europe, Americas, Middle East/Africa and Asia Pacific) and implement sales strategies, processes, and best practices to drive business development performance.
  • Set and implement business development plans and budgets, account management approach and account plans to achieve the product's objectives and growth targets.
  • Lead, direct and control highly strategic business development activities and initiatives across the product with significant impact on overall results and very high business risk potential.
  • Identify and prioritize business development initiatives to enhance market penetration and revenue growth.
  • Create and execute a customer and sector segmentation strategy and targeting for optimized market penetration.
  • Directly own and acquire new clients and the support the maintenance/development of existing accounts.
  • Drive collaboration with DHL M&S function through building a high degree of collaboration between product and sales channels.
  • Drive business development synergies within and across the product and solutions and decide on areas for improvement based on pipeline reporting.
  • Drive commercial excellence initiatives to enhance sales effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Build and manage customer sponsorships and relationships.
  • Utilize exceptional networking skills to build and leverage a wide range of industry contacts to close new business.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement measures to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify opportunities for revenue growth and diversification opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Build relationships and advocacy within DHL sales network.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for business development initiatives.
  • Navigate complex, global, and multicultural matrix environments to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Deliver innovation that directly influence the way the product is operating and making money.
  • Regularly enhance quality or value of existing business development methods and techniques and resolve problems with broad-based solutions considering multiple aspects.
  • Reach agreement with external parties to accept complete proposals and programs where there is little interest in cooperating or participating.
  • Negotiate and authorize critical agreements/ contracts, changing terms and conditions significantly where required.
  • Lead, direct, coach and develop performance of the product's business development team.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Education - Bachelor Degree
  • Experience - more than 10 years relevant product experience preferably in order management and forwarding logistics.
  • Experience in leading and managing a global sales team.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of global markets and industry trends related to the OMS/OCM Product.
  • Understanding of sales processes and best practices plus customer segmentation and targeting strategies.
  • Understanding and ability to work in a matrix organizational structures and global operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proven track record in business development and achieving growth targets.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing business development strategies.
  • Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships together with a "hunter" mindset.
