Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Pricing Leader - Business Strategy & Development is part of the Pricing COE, reporting to the SVP, Pricing & Business Development, providing thought leadership, analytical rigor, financial analysis, and support for the Business Strategy & Development (BS&D) team. The BS&D team leads M&A diligence, equity venture investment, strategic initiative planning, and payment network (Visa, Mastercard) support on behalf of SYF. The role requires the ability to work with, influence, and create presentation materials for senior and executive leaders within the SYF platforms/functions as well as various third parties (external advisors, investment banks, external counsels, venture partners).

Essential Responsibilities:
  • M&A: Partner with the BS&D team in valuing target companies and leading all financial aspects of the M&A process, including financial modeling, leading/coordinating due diligence efforts, interacting with external advisors, providing updates, and presenting materials to the commercial platforms and senior management.
  • Collaborate with SYF's finance leadership (CFO, FP&A, Controllership, Tax and Treasury), operational leaders and key functions to develop financial and economic analysis to support the M&A proforma.
  • Ensure key stakeholders across finance are informed, as needed.
  • Synchrony Ventures: Support the execution of strategic venture capital investments, including financial valuation, investment memo preparation, due diligence, exit scenarios, wire execution/documentation, and portfolio monitoring/management.
  • Coordinate with the FP&A, Controllership and Tax teams on the quarterly recording of new investments and changes in the fair value of the venture portfolio.
  • Strategic Initiative Planning: Partner with the strategic initiatives teams in evaluating, documenting, executing, and monitoring strategic and infrastructure initiative investments.
  • Provide effective challenge to budget estimates and forecasts of benefits associated with proposed investments.
  • Deliver financial guidance and maintain standardization of methodologies and metrics used to calculate and measure investment returns.
  • Assist manager in leading strategic initiative review discussions with SYF Operating Sub-Committee.
  • Payment Networks: Lead ad hoc analysis and other work as needed to support key initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business field preferred or in lieu of degree, 14 years equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years finance experience in either Business Development, Pricing, FP&A, Strategic Initiative Planning, M&A, or corporate ventures.
  • MBA or similar master's degree and a minimum 7 years finance experience in either Business Development, Pricing, FP&A, Strategic Initiative Planning, M&A, or corporate ventures.

Desired Characteristics:

Grade/Level: 14

The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • N ew hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
