Job Duties

The Department of General Services, Virginia Distribution Center (VDC) is a supply chain management operation serving government entities across the Commonwealth since 1960. The VDC is dedicated to providing customer driven quality products and services at the lowest prices. We have a state-of-the-art distribution center in Sandston, VA.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident Warehouse Manager to manage the daily VDC warehouse functions including receiving, storing, and shipping commodities to meet customer service and delivery requirements as well as process efficiency, safety, and inventory accuracy. This position will support the mission, vision, and values of the VDC through all that he or she does in their role every day. This position requires participating in an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing a warehouse/distribution center
• Proficiency with warehouse procedures and policies
• Considerable experience in general warehouse operation including shipping, receiving, inventory storage, materials handling equipment and inventory control and best practices.
• Basic skills in the use of personal computer
• Experience with warehouse management system (WMS) software tool(s)
• Skilled at both oral and written communication
• The ability to provide effective customer services to the public, employees, and management.
• Ability to multitask and work in an ever-changing environment with deadlines that fluctuate with business demands
• Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
• Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of company staff
• Have a work history demonstrating strong employee engagement and leadership skills
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Additional Considerations

• Experience with employee performance management, setting goals and assignments for all team members including mentoring, recognizing good performance, and coaching
• Experience delegating tasks to team members and ensuring all required tasks are completed effectively
Able to operate material handling equipment and a forklift. Must become certified to operate Material Handler Equipment and become a certified trainer within one year of starting employment
• MS Office applications
