Job Duties

Provides financial accountability for procurement, accounts payable, receivable and inmate trust. Reviews, analyzes and processes a range of data and reports in accordance with Department of Corrections (DOC) and Department of Accounts (DOA) Policies and Procedures. Assists with Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System (FAACS) inventories. Serves as Assistant Accountant and assists Business Manager in the audit and review of financial documents and reports. Oversees the Accounts Payable, Fiscal Tech and the Accounting offices in their absence. Back up Facility Surplus Property Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting and Procurement principles and practices and ability to perform accurate detailed work with detailed numerical data, mathematical calculations and financial reports. Recent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets. Prefer working knowledge of eVA, Cardinal and Corrections Information System (CORIS), Offender Trust. Recent working knowledge of office procedures, computers, calculators, copiers and office machines. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines and to work independently.

Additional Considerations

Post-secondary coursework in basic accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent training. Working knowledge of State financial programs including FAACS, eVA and Cardinal.
