The successful candidate will drive to refuse collection and disposal areas using City vehicles in order to ensure compliance with ordinances.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Inspects collection and disposal area to determine any corrective action to be taken for such violations as unauthorized dumping or hazardous materials.
  • Communicates with citizens for explaining and enforcing regulations and codes.
  • Investigates accidents and related complaints in order to make problem-solving decisions.
  • Prepares and maintains investigation reports, records, and other documentation such as correspondence.
  • Assesses, replaces, and/or repairs damaged property.
  • Performs related tasks as necessary such as researching ordinances and property information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS : Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in refuse collection, code enforcement, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards .Ability to obtain your CDL Class B Licenses with airbrake endorsement within 12 months.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to obtain a working knowledge of municipal laws, rules, codes, and regulations governing enforcement, inspection, and regulation of solid waste collection and disposal; follow legal procedures related to execution of regulatory codes and ordinances; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing,, and prepare reports, enforce municipal codes and departmental policies and regulations tactfully and impartially; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, government officials, and the general public; perform work requiring moderate physical exertion.

Ability to complete Supervisor Certificate Course within 12 months of employment.
