Primary Responsibilities

HDR is in search of a Water Resources Engineer to join our specialized Fisheries Ecohydraulics practice. In this role you will be supporting fisheries projects ranging from fish passage, water crossings, stream restoration, fish screening structures, and hatcheries. HDR has an amazing fisheries group with a long-standing history of technical excellence. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is looking to grow their knowledge, as well as excited to mentor and train junior staff. We'll count on you to:

• Provide project engineering and task management

• Collect, assimilate, and present data in reports, memos, and public forum

• Conduct field assessments of streams, wetlands, and estuarie

• Produce design calculations and clearly document design decisions in technical reports,

• Produce design plans, specifications, and engineering cost estimates.

• Work independently in addition to planning, organizing and assisting groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technician

• Conduct complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling

• Evaluate sediment mobility and bridge scour

• Develop habitat complexity designs, including LWM layout and details. Evaluate stability of LWM structure

• Conduct floodplain delineation studies in accordance with FEMA and local floodplain guidelines and regulation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Ecological, or Environmental Engineering

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources engineering project

• PE licensure in Washington state or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 month

• Experience with stream restoration design concept

• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software HEC-HMS, WWHM, HEC-RAS1D/2D, and SRH2D.

• Experience using WDFW Water Crossing Design Guidelines and WSDOT Hydraulics Manual

• Experience working with CAD and GIS software

• Excellent oral and written communication skill

• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task.

The expected compensation range for this position is $69,020 - $130,399 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
