Job Summary

Concierge team members serve as building liaisons and offer exceptional customer service. They provide information about the Bone Student Center, building tenants and their services, Bone Student Center and campus events, the general Illinois State University campus, and the surrounding Bloomington-Normal community. These students also are responsible for selling tickets to Bone Student Center and/or Braden Auditorium events using a Ticketmaster system. The concierge is often the first Illinois State University interaction for guests, clients, and visitors. Therefore, this role is vital to the building and Illinois State University.

Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality (EMDH) provides safe and inclusive gathering spaces, high quality dining options, and customized event services to enrich student and visitor experiences.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide exceptional customer service, giving general information, directions, resource materials, and other assistance as needed in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.
• Greet all guests, clients, and staff members with a friendly and energetic disposition, while maintaining proper eye contact.
• Exhibit a mastery understanding the services provided by Bone Student Center, building tenants, as well as general campus services and information, office locations, and campus events.
• Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve.
• Operate a multi-line phone system and field phone inquiries.
• Operate the Ticketmaster system to sell tickets to events in the Bone Student Center/Braden Auditorium.
• Communicate effectively with both professional and student staff members. Complete daily log forms, reports, and other paperwork throughout shift.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate

$14.25/hour

Required Qualifications

- Previous customer service work experience and/or involvement in campus life through student organizations, volunteer efforts, etc.
- Currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student.
- Commitment to working at least two full terms.

Work Hours

Flexibility for working hours is required. A variety of work hours are available during the morning, afternoon, evening, and weekends. Work hours are also available during all breaks: spring, summer, fall, and winter. All staff members are expected to work at least 4 hours during the week and approximately 20 hours during breaks throughout the year. Shifts over breaks are assigned if not enough team members volunteer.
