DESCRIPTION

The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with expert knowledge in a number of hosting technology disciplines including Hyper-V, System Center Virtual Machine Manager, Windows Clustering and high availability technologies, VMWare 6.x+, Cisco UCS, and the integration with Pure storage technologies. These include physical hardware systems with blade and storage technologies, cloud computing infrastructure design, Active Directory integration, and other high availability systems engineering support.

The incumbent provides system design proposals, analysis, programming, maintenance, monitoring, cost analysis and hardening designs (including data security) of systems and servers including installations, upgrades, patches, backup plans as well as documentation with primary responsibility for the design, implementation, management and maintenance techniques of various system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise physical and virtual computing infrastructure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for all applications and operating systems and participates in the on call schedule.

Incumbent will have expert knowledge with a variety of software tools, including those related to design, analysis and implementation. Incumbents provide consultation and knowledge transfer with respect to a variety of system hardware and software components including (but not limited to) HyperV, VMWare, Windows Server, Linux Servers (primarily Red Hat), Cisco UCS, Nutanix, Pure, and NetApp (SAN storage and blade server technologies). Design knowledge and expertise with Cloud Computing technologies such as Azure administration.

The incumbent works with various parties to bring technical projects to completion. Demonstrated experience and proven expertise in intrusion detection and remediation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training. Related experience in the design, deployment and maintenance of complex IS hosting environments. Powershell and PowerCLI.
  • Professional experience and proven success performing systems integration and deploying complex systems integration solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience managing a large number of Windows Servers.
  • Microsoft MCSA/MCSE or Azure based equivalent certifications.
  • Experience setting up, maintaining and utilizing System Center Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Experience with VMWare hypervisor.
  • Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist.
  • Knowledge of ITIL techniques/processes, change control and documentation.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Powershell, Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Rubrik, Pure, NetApp and Cisco UCS blades.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
